Lessons in Leadership and Parenthood by Amy Larko Falanga

As we’re almost halfway into 2025 (which is so crazy to think about!) I’ve been doing some reflecting on the last five months. Taking on the role of Co-CEO, and becoming a women-owned staffing firm, while also becoming a parent has pushed me in ways I didn’t expect. It’s taught me that leadership isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about staying grounded, curious, and open.

The market has been… well, unpredictable for so many reasons. Some weeks it’s all green lights, others feel like we’re standing still. But through it all, I’ve learned a few things I wanted to share:

Momentum isn’t always fast, it’s forward. Some days, progress looks like a signed contract, a new hire placed, or a conversation with someone who needs my support or to lend an ear.

Connections matter more than ever. In any market, relationships aren’t just helpful, they’re everything. Whether with clients, candidates, or my own team, real connection has made all the difference in our growth. I feel fortunate for all the incredible connections The Larko Group has built over the last 32+ years and to continue expanding those and making new ones.

You can lead and still be learning. Motherhood has humbled me. It’s slowed me down in the best way. It reminded me to ask for help, to listen more, and to lead with empathy.

I don’t have a perfect formula, but I do know this: We keep going. We keep building. We keep believing in the people beside us.

To those juggling multiple roles, to the leaders navigating business, to the teams making it all happen behind the scenes, I see you and I hear you. We’re in this together and I’m excited to see how the rest of the year plays out!
