Responsibilities
- Oversee and support the full cycle of the talent acquisition process, from talent search and candidate screening to hiring and onboarding of new employees.
- Drive the performance management process and provide relevant guidance to the team leaders on employee reviews and evaluations.
- Supports the development and administration of effective team member retention and recruiting programs, while monitoring effectiveness and trends in attrition.
- Oversee employee relations and guide associates of all levels on company policy and procedure interpretation, corrective action, benefits, and attendance policies.
- Mentors develop managers to enhance their skills and leadership abilities.
- Administers company recognition systems.
- Effectively communicates the company culture to current and potential employees.
- Plan and execute company culture-focused activities on a regular cadence while adhering to a defined budget.
- Thoroughly and accurately uses applicable company systems and processes.
- Maintain employment records, develop/implement guidelines on paperwork, and record retention policies.
- Timely and accurately process semi-monthly payroll using ADP WorkForceNow platform.
- Administer all aspects of the employee benefits program, regularly review benefit provider billing, and resolve billing issues. Partner with the finance department to ensure timely disbursement of payments to providers and reliable reporting of benefit expenses.
- Monitor employee PTO following the company policies, and verify that accurate PTO balances are maintained.
- Maintains and audits all team member employment files to ensure all standards and consistency are achieved.
- Processes and audits all new hire documentation to ensure accuracy.
- Develop and implement policies and provide guidance to ensure compliance with applicable labor laws and regulatory requirements.
- Ensures team members have the tools necessary to complete their jobs effectively. Supports team member training.
- As necessary, become the liaison with outside agencies to address temporary employee staffing needs and permanent employee search processes.
Ideal Experience
- At least 3 – 5 years of human resource management experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, organizational development, business management or a related field is required. A master’s degree is helpful but not required.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification is strongly preferred.
- Experience with interpretation and policy implementation for federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Previous experience with integrated HR payroll and employee file systems, preferably with ADP Workforce Now.
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to effectively communicate with associates at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to travel between offices in Chicago and the northern suburbs.
